MOE 2005-2006 guide for eating Lake Clear fish

The MOE Environmental Monitoring and Reporting Branch (EMRB) has indicated that as a result of an overall review of the Lake Clear fish monitoring for the period between 1978 and 2002 that there is a significant change in the advisories provided in the publication entitled “Guide to Eating Ontario Sport Fish 2005-2006 Edition” from the previous edition. An electronic copy is available by clicking on this link: Guide to Eating Ontario Sport Fish 2005-2006

The following chart is taken from page 39 in the Southern Ontario section of the guide

Important note: On our lake, walleyes <50 cm are supposed to be released!

The number that appears in the coloured boxes represent the maximum number of meals of that size fish that can be consumed each month. The number of meals per month (categories) may be 8, 4, 2, 1, or 0 as indicated.

5 = Mercury, other metals, PCBs, mirex/photomirex and pesticides
8 = Chlorinated phenols and chlorinated benzenes
