I Visited Lake Clear Yesterday...

6/8/2017

... for the first time in many years. For decades my family rented a cottage from the Goulet family, at the end of what is now French's Road. I am attaching some photos I took.

Question 1: whatever happened to Stricklands right at the corner of 512 and Sand Road? I saw the site was completely empty. We used to stop there after forgetting things at the grocery store in town.

Question 2: There used to be a farm with a small creek running close by in a small valley on the right hand side of highway 512 between Eganville and the Lake Clear Road. My father used to stop our car there and buy bait fish, shiners, from the farmer who used to trap them in the stream. The stream ran under the road. I remember it well as one year our dog Dinty unfortunately got out of the car and killed two of the farmer's chickens. There was a ruckus about that! Dad had to fork over a few bucks to calm the old fellow down. I could find no trace of any such farm when twice driving the 512. Any idea of where it was and/or what happened to it? Cheers,
